Clean beauty first? Saie Beauty ventures into vintage clothing – WWD

Unilever Ventures-backed own makeup brand Saie is venturing into vintage clothing in what could be a beauty first.

Appropriately referred to as “Saie Vintage,” the apparel activation kicks off today and includes a rotating selection of vintage advertised on (the brand name is pronounced “say”), with purchases directed to websites of participating vendors.

The launch coincides with the first anniversary of Saie’s best-selling tinted moisturizer “Slip Tint”. The own beauty brand is also known for its minimal branded glow kits, lip glosses and cheeksticks.

For her debut, Saie brought together three vintage sellers founded by women, including Eveliina Vintage (known for her hand-dyed briefs), Kiko’s Kloset (idea of dancer Kayla Dickie with an eye for mobile retro finds) and Los Large Lemonade based in Angeles (wearable art pieces transformed with age-old sewing techniques). The on-going activation aims to inspire the transformation of customers’ sustainable lifestyles and celebrate small businesses with similar sustainability goals (including a focus on eliminating waste and promoting business headed by women).

The pieces of the Saie Vintage collaboration will carry the nickname “x Saie” and will be the first of many vintage drops. The next launch is scheduled for January and will coincide with the launch of new beauty products, according to the brand.

While the crossover may seem unusual, the synergy has always made sense with the brand’s identity. When founding Saie Beauty in 2019, blogger turned CEO and founder Laney Crowell said the products were a “hybrid between my two worlds – fashion and clean beauty”, having dreamed of a career in fashion. before venturing into the field of beauty.
